 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Patricia Lindsey is retiring from the City of
 Houston Health and Human Services Department on February 23, 2011,
 drawing to a close an outstanding career that has spanned 36 years;
 and
 WHEREAS, A Bayou City native, Ms. Lindsey graduated summa cum
 laude from Phillis Wheatley Senior High School in 1970 and later
 earned both bachelor's and master's degrees in business
 administration from Texas Southern University; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Lindsey began her career with the City of
 Houston in 1974 as an auditor aide with the Model Cities Program and
 subsequently joined the Human Resources Department prior to its
 1985 merger with Health and Human Services; since working as a
 management information system specialist with the department, Ms.
 Lindsey has distinguished herself in a variety of positions over
 the course of her tenure, including in her current role as senior
 program manager for the northeast region of the Neighborhood
 Services Division; and
 WHEREAS, Several neighborhood assessments have been
 published as a result of Ms. Lindsey's dedicated efforts, and she
 has provided valuable assistance with such programs as Vision
 Partnership, Project Saving Smile, Breakfast with Santa, and the
 first annual Salute to Volunteers for the northeast region, as well
 as job fairs, neighborhood cleanups, and numerous other projects;
 in addition, her work with the Acres Homes Multi-Service Center
 Community Advisory Committee has resulted in multiple grants to
 increase arts awareness in that community; and
 WHEREAS, Also active in the community, Ms. Lindsey has served
 on a number of boards and committees, such as the Gulf Coast
 Community Services Association Board, the Pleasantville Park
 Advisory Council, the Pleasantville Super Neighborhood Council No.
 57, the Northeast Region Advisory Council, the Northeast Concerned
 Citizens Civic League, and the Crime and Safety Committee of the
 Greater Fifth Ward Super Neighborhood Council No. 55; and
 WHEREAS, Retirement will allow her additional time to pursue
 her diverse interests, which include technology, music, fishing,
 photography, and videography as well as civic involvement; and
 WHEREAS, Patricia Lindsey's dedication, professionalism, and
 commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of
 Houston, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well
 spent as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Patricia Lindsey on her retirement
 from the City of Houston Health and Human Services Department and
 extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Lindsey as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
