H.R. No. 542 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Hector Raul Bermudez of El Paso passed away on January 24, 2011, at the age of 89, leaving his family and friends with many treasured memories of time spent in his company; and WHEREAS, Born to Urbano and Josefa Bermudez on January 3, 1922, in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, Hector Bermudez earned a business degree from El Colegio Palmore in El Paso in 1940 and was employed with ASARCO, from which he retired in 1984; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bermudez met the love of his life, Elvira Baca, at a dance, and the pair exchanged their wedding vows in 1945; they shared a long and happy marriage and over the years became the parents of 10 children, Yolanda, Graciela, Armida, Leticia, Evangelina, Argelia, Delia, Hector, Carlos, and Sergio; and WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan was an ardent dancer who also delighted in watching old Westerns, playing racquetball, and socializing at the senior center; moreover, he excelled at the role of host, handling its duties with unfailing grace; and WHEREAS, Hector Bermudez touched many lives during his journey on this earth, and he will forever be remembered with great affection and admiration by all those who were fortunate enough to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Hector Raul Bermudez and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, Elvira Bermudez; to his children, Yolanda Ochoa, Graciela Montoya, Armida Licon, Leticia Bermudez, Evangelina Acosta, Argelia Bearden, and Delia El Turk; to his 22 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great- grandchildren; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Hector Bermudez.
