 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The popular television program Primetime Tejano is
 celebrating its 20th year of bringing entertaining and informative
 programming to the Austin metropolitan area; and
 WHEREAS, Primetime Tejano began operations in 1992 with the
 purpose of presenting the latest Hispanic and Latino music while
 also informing the community of the latest economic, political, and
 social issues that directly impact its viewers; and
 WHEREAS, Airing every Thursday evening on both the Time
 Warner and Grande cable systems, the show features interviews with
 artists, politicians, musicians, and historians; extensive
 coverage is provided for such major events as the Tejano Music
 Awards and the Latin Grammys and for the celebrations of Cinco de
 Mayo and Diez y Seis de Septiembre; and
 WHEREAS, The program's quality has been acknowledged with
 accolades such as being named the best variety show in Austin from
 1999 to 2001 and again from 2003 to 2005; also in 2005, it was
 selected as one of the city's top 10 music shows; and
 WHEREAS, Local television programming serves a valuable role
 in the community with its ability to enlighten and unite residents,
 and after two decades of service, Primetime Tejano continues to be
 an important resource for news, information, and entertainment in
 the Austin area; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Primetime Tejano on its 20th year
 of programming and extend to the program's management and staff
 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Primetime Tejano as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
