No. 617 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Oliver Elementary School of the Stamford Independent School District has been nominated for a 2011 Blue Ribbon School award; and WHEREAS, Created by the U.S. Department of Education in 1982, the Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes schools that rank in the top 10 percent on state tests or show dramatic gains in student performance; each year, the State of Texas selects up to 26 nominees from more than 8,000 public schools and charter campuses across the Lone Star State; and WHEREAS, Oliver Elementary, a first time nominee, was 1 of only 12 schools selected for improved student performance; led by principal Susan Mueller, it has an enrollment of 321 students in prekindergarten through the fifth grade; guided by the motto "Good, Better, Best," this notable institution has received an Exemplary rating from the Texas Education Agency for two years in a row; and WHEREAS, Through hard work, commitment, and perseverance, the teachers and students of Oliver Elementary have established a record of academic excellence, and their outstanding efforts are indeed worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby honor Oliver Elementary School on its nomination for a 2011 Blue Ribbon School award and extend to its teachers, students, and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
