 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the loss of Allyn Paul
 Roussel of New Orleans, Louisiana, who died on November 4, 2010, at
 the age of 92; and
 WHEREAS, Allyn Roussel was born in Lutcher, Louisiana, on
 March 16, 1918, to Neva Bourgeois Roussel and Arthur Joseph
 Roussel, Sr.; at St. Aloysius High School, he boxed and played on
 the baseball and football teams, earning the nickname "Rock" for
 being "as sturdy as the Rock of Gibraltar" on the gridiron; after
 high school, he attended Loyola University; and
 WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Roussel
 served as a seaman first class in the U.S. Coast Guard during World
 War II; in 1943, he was joined in matrimony to the former Claire
 Wright, and together they were blessed with three children, five
 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, After the war, Mr. Roussel became a businessman, and
 for almost half a century he owned and operated automotive service
 stations in the Gretna, Belle Chasse, and Algiers neighborhoods of
 New Orleans; he was active in his profession as a member of the
 board of directors of the Service Station Association of Louisiana
 and a member of the Texaco Dealer Advisory Board; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Roussel attended St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic
 Church and was a member of Santa Maria Council No. 1724 of the
 Knights of Columbus, which recognized him with the Family of the
 Month Award in 1998 and the Gold Knight Award in 2004; he continued
 to honor his military service as a member of American Legion Post
 218; and
 WHEREAS, "Rock" Roussel lived a caring and purposeful life,
 and he will forever be remembered with deep affection by all who
 held him close to their hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Allyn Paul Roussel and
 extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife
 of 67 years, Claire Wright Roussel; to his children, Allyn Paul
 "Rocky" Roussel, Jr., Wright Jude Roussel and his wife, Johanna,
 and Magdalita Roussel; to his grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Roussel
 Alexi and her husband, Kevin, Shawn M. Roussel, Jason S. Roussel,
 Brian P. Roussel, and Jaime Marie Marcel Kiss and her husband,
 Robert; to his great-grandchildren, Darrik Roussel, Chase Alexi,
 and Robert Kiss III; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for his
 family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns
 this day, it do so in honor of Allyn Paul Roussel.
