H.R. No. 628 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Country music singer Mark Chesnutt is performing in Austin on February 28, 2011, in conjunction with Golden Triangle Days at the State Capitol, where residents from that area are gathering to work together for the good of their region and the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, A fitting performer for this special occasion, Mark Chesnutt was born and raised in Beaumont; he remained a Texas resident even after attracting the attention of Nashville record companies and being signed to a major label in 1989; and WHEREAS, Over the course of the next few years, Mr. Chesnutt became a major country star; the winner of the Country Music Association Horizon Award in 1993, he has had four platinum albums in his career and eight number one singles; his string of hits includes "Brother Jukebox," "Blame It On Texas," "Almost Goodbye," and "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing," and he is known as one of the industry's hardest working concert performers; and WHEREAS, A native son who has never cut ties with the community where he first learned to make music, Mark Chesnutt continues to captivate audiences around the country, and he is a welcome presence in Austin as his fellow Golden Triangle residents celebrate their notable region of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby honor Mark Chesnutt on the occasion of Golden Triangle Days at the State Capitol and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Chesnutt as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
