H.R. No. 677
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
by a great and enduring love, Robert and Carol Callis of El Paso
celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 4, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Callis were united in matrimony on that
special day in 1951; through the years, they have nurtured a
fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the
addition of their children, David and his wife, Deborah, and Daniel
and his wife, Susanne, as well as three grandchildren, Stacy,
Stephanie, and Owen, and one great-grandchild, Tyvan; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Callis creates handcrafted leather goods, and he
is a retired noncommissioned officer of the U.S. Army who served
with distinction in Korea, Vietnam, and the first Gulf War; Mrs.
Callis has been a dedicated homemaker throughout the couple's
marriage; and
WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the
world during the past six decades, this devoted husband and wife
have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the
strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges
and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Robert and Carol Callis on their
60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Callis as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
