 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The winter storm that struck El Paso in February
 2011 made travel difficult, but a number of determined El Pasoans
 braved the elements to deliver goods and services to those in need;
 and
 WHEREAS, On Wednesday, February 2, 2011, El Paso was hit by a
 winter blast that caused power outages and dangerous driving
 conditions; for a city unused to such extreme winter weather, life
 was made especially problematic; fortunately, there were good
 citizens standing ready to counter the privations wrought by this
 extreme weather, and among the outstanding individuals, companies,
 and organizations are Rose Medina, Thomas Black, A D Towing and
 Recovery, Arrow Towing, the El Paso Fire Department, A & P Plumbing
 Unlimited, and Villarreal & Sons Electric; and
 WHEREAS, Rose Medina made approximately 60 deliveries to the
 elderly and others in her role as a driver for McCrory's Pharmacy;
 Thomas Black, a delivery driver for the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy,
 made the icy, 20-mile commute from his home in Clint so that he
 would be on call for customers in need; and
 WHEREAS, A D Towing and Recovery had 18 drivers on call,
 rescuing stricken cars and trucks all over the city; Arrow Towing
 responded to more than 100 calls from stranded motorists; and
 WHEREAS, The El Paso Fire Department spent the day helping
 residents with car accidents, water leaks, and malfunctioning
 heaters while also seeing to their own equipment problems caused by
 the cold; A & P Plumbing Unlimited answered calls throughout the
 day, responding to reports of frozen waterlines and heaters needing
 repair; Villarreal & Sons Electric responded to emergencies and
 sent technicians to the aid of those left without power by the
 storm; and
 WHEREAS, This esteemed group of citizens did not hesitate to
 answer the call for assistance during a challenging time, and their
 actions made life easier for those in trying circumstances; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby commend Rose Medina, Thomas Black, A D Towing
 and Recovery, Arrow Towing, the El Paso Fire Department, A & P
 Plumbing Unlimited, and Villarreal & Sons Electric for rendering
 great assistance during the 2011 winter storm in El Paso and extend
 to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for each as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
 of Representatives.
