H.R. No. 742 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Sybil McDonald McClendon, a valued member of the Sulphur Springs community, celebrated her 88th birthday on February 6, 2011; and WHEREAS, Born in 1923 in Reilly Springs, the former Sybil McDonald graduated as valedictorian of her class at Reilly Springs School; she married Hugh J. McClendon and with him shared a rewarding relationship until his passing in 1998; and WHEREAS, Mrs. McClendon is the devoted mother of two sons, Mark and Jay, and her circle of loved ones includes her twin sister, Sarah Boyd; and WHEREAS, For the majority of her working years, Mrs. McClendon was engaged in the family-owned Quicky Foods, a grocery store and meat market; she taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church for nearly half a century, and she has spent many happy hours riding horses and playing golf; and WHEREAS, Blessed with a devoted family and admiring friends, Sybil McClendon is a source of joy and inspiration to all who have the great privilege of knowing her and sharing in the richness of her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Sybil McDonald McClendon on her 88th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. McClendon as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
