 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Gus Kroos retired from his position as a unit
 director with H-E-B in Victoria on December 21, 2010, drawing to a
 close his 35 years of dedicated service with the company; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Kroos began his career with H-E-B as a clerk in
 Portland before advancing through a series of other assignments;
 with each promotion, he moved to a different store, often in a new
 town, until he started working as a general merchandise manager
 with H-E-B in Victoria; he decided to settle in the city to raise
 his family, and he helped run the store on Rio Grande Street for 25
 years, serving as the unit director for the majority of that time;
 and
 WHEREAS, While managing the store, Mr. Kroos helped it grow
 and remain profitable, and he oversaw the opening of the new store
 at the same location in 2001; he developed a successful and
 close-knit team of managers and partners, and employees greatly
 valued the leadership and guidance he provided; in addition to
 being a respected professional and mentor, he also had a fun side
 and was known for playing practical jokes on unsuspecting
 employees; and
 WHEREAS, An active member of his community, Mr. Kroos has
 volunteered his time to help organize and run the H-E-B Feast of
 Sharing, an annual event that provides a free Christmas dinner to
 those in need; moreover, he currently serves on the board of
 directors for the Victoria Independent School District Education
 Foundation; and
 WHEREAS, Retirement will allow Mr. Kroos to spend more time
 with his children and grandchildren, and he also looks forward to
 traveling with his wife, Cheryl; and
 WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, Gus Kroos earned the
 admiration and affection of all who worked with him, and he may
 indeed reflect with pride on his many achievements as he begins the
 next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Gus Kroos on his retirement and
 extend to him sincere best wishes for happiness in the years ahead;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Kroos as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
