No. 777 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Dr. Kay Eggleston has demonstrated great leadership and skill in furthering the mission of Richland College in her role as interim president; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Minnesota State University at Mankato, Dr. Eggleston earned her bachelor's degree in nursing and went on to complete her master's degree in nursing with a medical-surgical cardiovascular specialty from Texas Woman's University and her doctoral degree in management and administrative sciences from The University of Texas at Dallas; and WHEREAS, Dr. Eggleston's notable career in higher education has included service as executive dean of the health and legal studies division at El Centro College, where she was also dean of health and legal students and dean of health occupations; in 1998, she joined the administration at Richland College, and she distinguished herself as vice president for community and economic development and as vice president for institutional effectiveness and economic development before assuming her current post; and WHEREAS, This accomplished professional has served on a number of statewide higher education committees and task forces and been recognized with several honors, including selection as Administrator of the Year from the Dallas County Community College District and Richland College; and WHEREAS, Dr. Eggleston is also an active member of her community; she has served on the Garland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and currently participates in the Richardson Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club, Altrusa International, and the Hockaday School; and WHEREAS, Kay Eggleston's vision and expertise have contributed immeasurably to the betterment of Richland College, and the school's students and faculty are indeed fortunate to continue to benefit from her guidance and dedication; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby commend Dr. Kay Eggleston for her outstanding service to Richland College and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Eggleston as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
