H.R. No. 794 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends of Laura Castleberry of Fort Worth, who passed away on February 20, 2011, at the age of 96; and WHEREAS, Born on July 31, 1914, Mrs. Castleberry was active in her community of faith for more than six decades; she was a strong and able partner to her husband, the late pastor L. C. Castleberry, who served as the superintendent of Golden Gate Church of God in Christ of Fort Worth for 40 years; and WHEREAS, "Mother Castleberry," as she was known to those with whom she worshipped, was a key figure in the church and devoted herself to all aspects of its operations; she served as a church educator for more than 20 years, began a day-care and youth center, and organized the junior and senior choirs; in addition, she presided over and recruited children for the church's Sunshine Band; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Castleberry experienced the joy of welcoming nine children into her family and had the pleasure of seeing her eldest son, Johnny Lee Castleberry, become the newest superintendent of Golden Gate; and WHEREAS, Although this esteemed woman is deeply missed, she will forever be remembered with great admiration and affection by all those who had the good fortune to know her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Laura Castleberry and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her children, Bernice Castleberry-Locklin, Johnny Lee Castleberry, Royalene Castleberry, Walter Earl Castleberry, Donald Ray Castleberry, and Gregory Steven Castleberry; to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Laura Castleberry.
