 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Eta Chapter of Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., is
 celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2011; and
 WHEREAS, Founded in 1942 at Lewis Business College in
 Detroit, Michigan, Eta Phi Beta was established to serve the needs
 of African American business and professional women and
 specifically to promote high scholastic standards, personal
 growth, and career awareness while providing opportunities for
 community service; and
 WHEREAS, Today, the national organization remains committed
 to supporting its core values as well as to fostering leadership
 skills in its members, providing scholarships in business and
 professional fields, and assisting in programs designed to improve
 the quality of life for people who are developmentally disabled;
 and
 WHEREAS, The Eta Chapter of the sorority in Fort Worth was
 founded on these same principles, and the group has long served as a
 valuable resource for professional women in North Texas; and
 WHEREAS, Together, the members of the Eta Chapter have helped
 to enhance the lives of many of their fellow residents, and in so
 doing, they have set a sterling example of leadership and civic
 engagement to which all may aspire; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the Eta Chapter of Eta Phi Beta Sorority,
 Inc., on the 50th anniversary of its founding and extend to its
 members sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
