 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, David Forinash of Plano is serving as the 2010-2011
 drum major for The University of Texas at Austin Longhorn Band, and
 he is one of the few juniors to ever hold this prestigious position;
 and
 WHEREAS, A 2008 graduate of Plano High School, Mr. Forinash
 has played the trumpet since taking it up in middle school and was
 selected to join the Longhorn Band's trumpet section as a college
 freshman; he tried out for drum major in the spring of 2010,
 competing against band members who were two years older; the
 rigorous audition included conducting his fellow musicians in the
 Texas fight song, teaching five band members a short marching
 drill, and interviewing with the band directors; and
 WHEREAS, During the 2010 Longhorn football season, Mr.
 Forinash led the halftime performances of the 380-member band, and
 he was charged with teaching the routines to the marchers each week;
 he managed those responsibilities and more in addition to the
 academic demands of mechanical engineering; and
 WHEREAS, The Longhorn Band is known for the pageantry of its
 halftime performances, in which the drum major plays a significant
 role, and David Forinash may indeed take pride in his contributions
 to this longstanding tradition; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate David Forinash on his outstanding
 leadership as the 2010-2011 drum major for The University of Texas
 at Austin Longhorn Band and extend to him sincere best wishes for
 continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Forinash as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
