 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The boys' basketball team from Bowie High School in
 El Paso closed out the 2010-2011 regular season with a 66-59 victory
 over Chapin High School on February 15, 2011, and this crucial win
 ultimately led to the team being crowned the District 1-4A
 champion; and
 WHEREAS, Omar Acosta overcame an injured ankle to lead the
 Bears with 26 points, including two late free throws to seal the
 game, and Jesse Lopez added 15 points; the triumph gave Bowie a
 record of 12 wins and 2 losses in district play, which equaled that
 of Andress High, and a coin toss between the two teams later earned
 Bowie the 1-4A title; and
 WHEREAS, After securing the district championship, the Bears
 continued their fine play in the University Interscholastic League
 4A state playoffs; they defeated Ysleta High School in their
 bi-district matchup before falling to The Colony in a hard-fought
 game on February 25 to finish the season with a 22-8 record; and
 WHEREAS, Winning a district championship represents the
 culmination of countless hours of hard work and an enduring
 commitment to excellence, and these talented student-athletes and
 coach Daniel Celaya may take justifiable pride in this
 accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Bowie High School Bears
 basketball team on winning the District 1-4A championship and
 extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best
 wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
