H.R. No. 811 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The first annual Neon Desert Music Festival is taking place in El Paso on April 30, 2011; and WHEREAS, Organized by Splendid Sun Productions with support from the City of El Paso, this 11-hour event will take place on four stages in San Jacinto Plaza and Cleveland Square Park and is expected to draw up to 10,000 music fans into the city's downtown area; and WHEREAS, The festival's lineup features an eclectic mix of headliners and local bands, from the Grammy-nominated Latin fusion band Los Amigos Invisibles and the San Antonio alt-rock trio Girl in a Coma to such El Paso favorites as Bulletproof Tiger and The Royalty; and WHEREAS, A lively showcase for the city, the festival will bring additional customers to area businesses and also aid two local nonprofit organizations, as a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Amor Por Juarez and Creative Kids; and WHEREAS, Music events bring both exciting entertainment and economic benefit to the communities of Texas, and the Neon Desert Music Festival promises to help make El Paso a popular destination for music fans from across the state and beyond; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby commemorate the first annual Neon Desert Music Festival in El Paso and extend to its organizers sincere best wishes for a successful and memorable event.
