H.R. No. 880
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family and friends of Monica Marie Villarreal of
Corpus Christi were deeply saddened by her tragic passing on
November 28, 1997, at the age of 18, and every year on the
anniversary of her birth, her loved ones come together to remember
the myriad ways in which she enriched their lives; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of Dr. J. A. "Tony" Villarreal and
Yolanda Villarreal, Monica Villarreal was born on February 28,
1979, in Reno, Nevada; she was a natural caregiver to her two
younger sisters, Denise and Amanda, enjoyed the love of her
maternal and paternal grandparents, and was also very close to her
aunts and uncles and her godmother; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Villarreal lived for a time in Germany with her
family, as well as in Texas; as a teenager she showed a sense of
empathy beyond her years, and those who were closest to her recall
her sweetness and her willingness to overlook the mistakes of
others; and
WHEREAS, Although Monica Villarreal's journey on this earth
was far too brief, she will be forever remembered with great
affection by all those who held her dear; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby honor the life and pay tribute to the memory of a
beloved Texan, Monica Marie Villarreal; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in remembrance of
Monica Villarreal.
