H.R. No. 898
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A 60th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of
mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Ed and Merle Wittner of
Woodway celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on March
4, 2011; and
WHEREAS, After meeting as students at Baylor University, Mr.
and Mrs. Wittner were joined in matrimony in 1951; through the
years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that includes
three children and two granddaughters; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Wittner served as minister of music at seven
Texas churches, retiring in 1998 after a notable 23-year tenure at
Columbus Avenue Baptist Church in Waco; he continued to serve four
churches in a part-time capacity until 2010; Mrs. Wittner was
employed by Educators Credit Union for more than 17 years before her
1997 retirement; and
WHEREAS, This inspiring couple have enjoyed six decades of
abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting
commitment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Ed and Merle Wittner on their 60th
wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Wittner as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
