H.R. No. 945
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Danny Duggan of Cherokee on
January 18, 2011, at the age of 59, brought a profound loss to his
community and many loved ones; and
WHEREAS, Danny Duggan was born in Pecos on September 3, 1951,
to Jerry and Mary Duggan; for much of his working life, he was
associated with the Cherokee Home for Children, which was founded
by the Cherokee Church of Christ in 1956; Mr. Duggan was a member of
the church and served as the home's director of development from
1982 to 1992; during that time, the organization expanded to
include more housing, a library, and a conference center; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Duggan returned to the Cherokee Home for
Children as executive director in 1998; he served in that capacity
until his death, taking an active interest in the lives of the
residents under his care; he was known for his warmth and compassion
and for the strong faith that informed every aspect of his life; and
WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, he enjoyed the love and
support of his wife, Janiece, whom he married in 1970; together they
were blessed with four children, Kaci, Jerrod, Ryan, and Malcom,
and shared in the joy of welcoming six grandchildren into their
family; and
WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father and an inspiring
leader, Danny Duggan touched the hearts of countless people through
the years, and he leaves behind a legacy that will forever be
treasured by all those who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Danny Duggan and
extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
wife, Janiece; to his children, Kaci Morrison and her husband,
Tommy, Jerrod Duggan and his wife, Kim, Ryan Duggan and his wife,
Laci, and Malcom Duggan; to his grandchildren, Talli and Tori
Morrison and Landon, Mason, Payton, and Preslee Duggan; to his
parents, Jerry and Mary Duggan; to his brothers, Dale Duggan and his
wife, Linda, and Tim Duggan and his wife, Jackie; to his foster son,
Jeff Presswood; to his foster grandson, Kevin Jones; and to his
other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Danny
Duggan.
