 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Residents of Wharton lost a brave and admirable
 public servant when Captain Thomas Araguz III of the Wharton
 Volunteer Fire Department died in the line of duty on July 3, 2010,
 at the age of 30; and
 WHEREAS, Born on June 30, 1980, to Thomas Araguz, Jr., and
 Simona Rodriguez Longoria, Thomas Trevino Araguz was a church altar
 server and graduated from Wharton High School and Wharton County
 Junior College; as a youth, he played the bass guitar and trumpet
 and took part in Boy Scout activities; and
 WHEREAS, He joined the Wharton Volunteer Fire Department at
 the age of 18, and during his 11-year career he courageously served
 his fellow citizens; he reached the rank of captain in the
 department on January 9, 2010, and weeks before his death he became
 a peace officer in the Wharton County Sheriff's Office; and
 WHEREAS, Above all, Captain Araguz prized the time he spent
 with his two sons, Trevor and Tyler, and enjoyed camping and
 building model airplanes with them; and
 WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of his profession,
 Captain Thomas Araguz III made immeasurable contributions to his
 community, and he will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts
 of his many loved ones; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Captain Thomas Araguz
 III and extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his passing;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Captain
 Thomas Araguz III.
