R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
death of V. Irene Clifton of Hewitt on March 4, 2011, at the age of
96; and
WHEREAS, The former Irene Turner was born in rural Mason
County on February 3, 1915, to Isia and Lucinda Turner; she enjoyed
a rewarding marriage to J. Walter Clifton until his death in 1996;
the couple became the parents of a son, Jimmy Walter Clifton, who
passed away in infancy in 1937; and
WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share in the friendship
and love of Irene Clifton will always remember her with great
tenderness and affection; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature pay tribute to the life of V. Irene Clifton and extend
sincere sympathy to her relatives and friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of V. Irene
Clifton.
