A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the contents of the sex offender registration form and
to information included in the sex offender database maintained by
the Department of Public Safety.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Article 62.005(a), Code of Criminal Procedure,
is amended to read as follows:
(a) The department shall maintain a computerized central
database containing the information required for registration
under this chapter and any palm prints submitted by a local law
enforcement authority under Article 62.051(c-1). The department
may include in the computerized central database the numeric risk
level assigned to a person under this chapter.
SECTION 2. Article 62.051, Code of Criminal Procedure, is
amended by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows:
(c-1) The registration form must allow a local law
enforcement authority, at its discretion, to include the person's
palm print on the form.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
