| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 61, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | amended by adding Section 61.0666 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 61.0666. STUDY REGARDING ESTABLISHMENT OF DENTAL |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | SCHOOL; EL PASO. (a) The board shall conduct a study to examine |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the need for and feasibility of establishing a dental school in El |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Paso as a component of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Center. The board shall consult with the board of regents of the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Texas Tech University System in conducting the study. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (b) Not later than November 1, 2012, the board shall report |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the results of the study required by this section to the governor, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | lieutenant governor, speaker of the house of representatives, and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | presiding officer of each legislative standing committee with |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | primary jurisdiction over higher education. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (c) This section expires January 31, 2013. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
