99 relating to the availability of online testing for high school
1010 equivalency examinations.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 7.111, Education Code, is amended by
1313 adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
1414 (c) The board by rule shall develop and deliver high school
1515 equivalency examinations and provide for the administration of the
1616 examinations online. The rules must:
1717 (1) provide a procedure for verifying the identity of
1818 the person taking the examination; and
1919 (2) prohibit a person under 18 years of age from taking
2020 the examination online.
2121 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2011-2012
2222 school year.
2323 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2424 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2525 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2626 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2727 Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
