11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 7.111, Education Code, is amended by | |
13 | 13 | adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (c) The board by rule shall develop and deliver high school | |
15 | 15 | equivalency examinations and provide for the administration of the | |
16 | 16 | examinations online. The rules must: | |
17 | 17 | (1) provide a procedure for verifying the identity of | |
18 | 18 | the person taking the examination; and | |
19 | 19 | (2) prohibit a person under 18 years of age from taking | |
20 | 20 | the examination online. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2011-2012 | |
22 | 22 | school year. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
24 | 24 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
25 | 25 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
26 | 26 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
27 | 27 | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
