99 AN ACT
1010 relating to the designation of State Highway 20 as a historic
1111 highway.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 442, Government Code, is
1414 amended by adding Section 442.027 to read as follows:
1515 Sec. 442.027. STATE HIGHWAY 20 AS TEXAS HISTORIC HIGHWAY.
1616 (a) The commission shall cooperate with the Texas Department of
1717 Transportation to designate, interpret, and market State Highway 20
1818 as a Texas historic highway.
1919 (b) To supplement revenue available for the purposes under
2020 Subsection (a), the commission and the Texas Department of
2121 Transportation may pursue federal funds dedicated to highway
2222 enhancement.
2323 (c) A designation of State Highway 20 as a Texas historic
2424 highway may not be construed as a designation under the National
2525 Historic Preservation Act (16 U.S.C. Section 470 et seq.).
2626 (d) The Texas Department of Transportation is not required
2727 to design, construct, or erect a marker under this section unless a
2828 grant or donation of funds is made to the department to cover the
2929 cost of the design, construction, and erection of the marker. Money
3030 received to cover the cost of the marker shall be deposited to the
3131 credit of the state highway fund.
3232 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
