| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Article 13.08, Code of Criminal |

| 13 | 13 | | Procedure, is amended to read as follows: |

| 14 | 14 | | (a) Where property is stolen in one county and removed [by |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the offender] to another county, the offender may be prosecuted |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | either in the county in which [where he took] the property was |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | stolen or in any other county through or into which the property was |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | [he may have] removed [the same]. |

| 19 | 19 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies only to a criminal case in which |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the indictment, information, or complaint is presented to the court |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | on or after the effective date of this Act. A criminal case in which |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the indictment, information, or complaint was presented to the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | court before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | in effect when the indictment, information, or complaint was |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | presented, and the former law is continued in effect for that |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | purpose. |
