The bill would expand eligibility criteria associated with extended outpatient commitments to authorize a judge to place persons on extended outpatient commitments if they have either received a total of at least 60 days of court-ordered inpatient mental health services in the past year, or been in court-ordered outpatient mental health services in the preceding 60 days. The Department of State Health Services does not anticipate a substantial increase in the overall number of outpatient commitments associated with these proposed new eligibility criteria and therefore believe they can absorb any associated costs within existing resources.
