| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subsections (a) and (c), Section 225.0225, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Transportation Code, are amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (a) The following highways are designated as [part of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Interstate Highway 35 located in Texas is] the Texas portion of the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | national Purple Heart Trail: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) the part of Interstate Highway 35 located in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Texas; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (2) the part of Interstate Highway 40 located in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Texas; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (3) the part of Interstate Highway 37 from Interstate |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Highway 35 to U.S. Highway 77; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (4) the part of U.S. Highway 77 from Interstate |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Highway 37 to State Highway 100; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (5) State Highway 100; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (6) Park Road 100. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (c) The department shall erect a marker at locations [each |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | end of the highway and at intermediate sites] along the trail |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | [highway] that the department determines are appropriate. [The |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | intermediate sites may not be farther apart than 100 miles.] |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
