66 AN ACT
77 relating to the operation of the Kimble County, McCulloch County,
88 Mason County, and Menard County Juvenile Boards.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 152.1401, Human Resources Code, is
1111 amended by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows:
1212 (f) The Kimble County Juvenile Board and the juvenile boards
1313 of one or more counties that are adjacent to or in close proximity
1414 to Kimble County may agree to operate together. Juvenile boards
1515 operating together may appoint one fiscal officer to receive and
1616 disburse funds for the boards.
1717 SECTION 2. Section 152.1601, Human Resources Code, is
1818 amended by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows:
1919 (f) The McCulloch County Juvenile Board and the juvenile
2020 boards of one or more counties that are adjacent to or in close
2121 proximity to McCulloch County may agree to operate together.
2222 Juvenile boards operating together may appoint one fiscal officer
2323 to receive and disburse funds for the boards.
2424 SECTION 3. Section 152.1661, Human Resources Code, is
2525 amended by amending Subsections (b), (c), and (d) and adding
2626 Subsections (e) and (f) to read as follows:
2727 (b) The juvenile board shall elect one of its members as
2828 [court judge is the] chairman [of the board and its chief
2929 administrative officer].
3030 (c) The commissioners court shall [may] pay the juvenile
3131 board members an annual salary of not less than $600, payable [set
3232 by the commissioners court at not more than $1,200 as compensation
3333 for the added duties imposed on the members. The salary shall be
3434 paid] in equal monthly installments from the general fund or any
3535 other available fund of the county. The commissioners court may
3636 increase the compensation at any time.
3737 (d) Sections 152.0002, 152.0004, 152.0005(b) [152.0005],
3838 and 152.0006[, 152.0007, and 152.0008] do not apply to the juvenile
3939 board of Mason County.
4040 (e) The juvenile board shall hold regular annual meetings on
4141 dates set by the board and special meetings at the call of the
4242 chairman.
4343 (f) The Mason County Juvenile Board and the juvenile boards
4444 of one or more counties that are adjacent to or in close proximity
4545 to Mason County may agree to operate together. Juvenile boards
4646 operating together may appoint one fiscal officer to receive and
4747 disburse funds for the boards.
4848 SECTION 4. Section 152.1701, Human Resources Code, is
4949 amended by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows:
5050 (f) The Menard County Juvenile Board and the juvenile boards
5151 of one or more counties that are adjacent to or in close proximity
5252 to Menard County may agree to operate together. Juvenile boards
5353 operating together may appoint one fiscal officer to receive and
5454 disburse funds for the boards.
5555 SECTION 5. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
5656 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
5757 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
5858 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
5959 Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
