7 | 7 | | relating to the operation of the Kimble County, McCulloch County, |

8 | 8 | | Mason County, and Menard County Juvenile Boards. |

9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 152.1401, Human Resources Code, is |
---|
11 | 11 | | amended by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
---|
12 | 12 | | (f) The Kimble County Juvenile Board and the juvenile boards |
---|
13 | 13 | | of one or more counties that are adjacent to or in close proximity |
---|
14 | 14 | | to Kimble County may agree to operate together. Juvenile boards |
---|
15 | 15 | | operating together may appoint one fiscal officer to receive and |
---|
16 | 16 | | disburse funds for the boards. |
---|
17 | 17 | | SECTION 2. Section 152.1601, Human Resources Code, is |
---|
18 | 18 | | amended by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
---|
19 | 19 | | (f) The McCulloch County Juvenile Board and the juvenile |
---|
20 | 20 | | boards of one or more counties that are adjacent to or in close |
---|
21 | 21 | | proximity to McCulloch County may agree to operate together. |
---|
22 | 22 | | Juvenile boards operating together may appoint one fiscal officer |
---|
23 | 23 | | to receive and disburse funds for the boards. |
---|
24 | 24 | | SECTION 3. Section 152.1661, Human Resources Code, is |
---|
25 | 25 | | amended by amending Subsections (b), (c), and (d) and adding |
---|
26 | 26 | | Subsections (e) and (f) to read as follows: |
---|
27 | 27 | | (b) The juvenile board shall elect one of its members as |
---|
28 | 28 | | [court judge is the] chairman [of the board and its chief |
---|
29 | 29 | | administrative officer]. |
---|
30 | 30 | | (c) The commissioners court shall [may] pay the juvenile |
---|
31 | 31 | | board members an annual salary of not less than $600, payable [set |
---|
32 | 32 | | by the commissioners court at not more than $1,200 as compensation |
---|
33 | 33 | | for the added duties imposed on the members. The salary shall be |
---|
34 | 34 | | paid] in equal monthly installments from the general fund or any |
---|
35 | 35 | | other available fund of the county. The commissioners court may |
---|
36 | 36 | | increase the compensation at any time. |
---|
37 | 37 | | (d) Sections 152.0002, 152.0004, 152.0005(b) [152.0005], |
---|
38 | 38 | | and 152.0006[, 152.0007, and 152.0008] do not apply to the juvenile |
---|
39 | 39 | | board of Mason County. |
---|
40 | 40 | | (e) The juvenile board shall hold regular annual meetings on |
---|
41 | 41 | | dates set by the board and special meetings at the call of the |
---|
42 | 42 | | chairman. |
---|
43 | 43 | | (f) The Mason County Juvenile Board and the juvenile boards |
---|
44 | 44 | | of one or more counties that are adjacent to or in close proximity |
---|
45 | 45 | | to Mason County may agree to operate together. Juvenile boards |
---|
46 | 46 | | operating together may appoint one fiscal officer to receive and |
---|
47 | 47 | | disburse funds for the boards. |
---|
48 | 48 | | SECTION 4. Section 152.1701, Human Resources Code, is |
---|
49 | 49 | | amended by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
---|
50 | 50 | | (f) The Menard County Juvenile Board and the juvenile boards |
---|
51 | 51 | | of one or more counties that are adjacent to or in close proximity |
---|
52 | 52 | | to Menard County may agree to operate together. Juvenile boards |
---|
53 | 53 | | operating together may appoint one fiscal officer to receive and |
---|
54 | 54 | | disburse funds for the boards. |
---|
55 | 55 | | SECTION 5. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
56 | 56 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
57 | 57 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
58 | 58 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
59 | 59 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
