99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subsection (a-2), Section 28.009, Education
1111 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1212 (a-2) A school district is not required to pay a student's
1313 tuition or other associated costs for taking a course under this
1414 section. This subsection expires September 1, 2013 [2011].
1515 SECTION 2. Subsection (g), Section 42.005, Education Code,
1616 as effective September 1, 2011, is amended to read as follows:
1717 (g) If a student may receive course credit toward the
1818 student's high school academic requirements and toward the
1919 student's higher education academic requirements for a single
2020 course, including a course provided under Section 28.009 by a
2121 public institution of higher education, the time during which the
2222 student attends the course shall be counted as part of the minimum
2323 number of instructional hours required for a student to be
2424 considered a full-time student in average daily attendance for
2525 purposes of this section.
2626 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2727 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2828 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2929 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3030 Act takes effect August 31, 2011.
