| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 111.069, Local Government Code, is |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Sec. 111.069. APPROVED BUDGET FILED WITH OFFICERS; POSTING |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | ON INTERNET. On final approval of the budget by the commissioners |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | court, the court shall: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (1) file a copy of the budget with the county auditor |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and the county clerk; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (2) if the county maintains an Internet website, take |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | action to ensure that a copy of the budget is posted on the website. |

| 18 | 18 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter B, Chapter 403, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | amended by adding Section 403.0116 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Sec. 403.0116. MUNICIPAL AND COUNTY BUDGETS ON INTERNET. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | The comptroller shall provide on its Internet website a link to the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | website of each municipality and county that provides budget |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | information for the municipality or county, including budgets |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | posted under Sections 102.008, 111.009, 111.040, and 111.069, Local |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Government Code. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | SECTION 3. Section 111.069, Local Government Code, as |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | amended by this Act, applies only to a budget adopted on or after |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | the effective date of this Act. A budget adopted before the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect when the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | budget was adopted, and that law is continued in effect for that |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | purpose. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
