77 relating to the designation of the El Camino Real de los Tejas
88 National Historic Trail as a historic highway.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 442.021, Government Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsections (c) through (f) to read as follows:
1212 (c) The commission shall cooperate with the Texas
1313 Department of Transportation to designate, interpret, and market
1414 the El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail as a Texas
1515 historic highway.
1616 (d) To supplement revenue available for the purposes under
1717 Subsection (c), the commission and the Texas Department of
1818 Transportation may pursue federal funds dedicated to highway
1919 enhancement.
2020 (e) A designation of the El Camino Real de los Tejas
2121 National Historic Trail as a Texas historic highway may not be
2222 construed as a designation under the National Historic Preservation
2323 Act (16 U.S.C. Section 470 et seq.).
2424 (f) The Texas Department of Transportation is not required
2525 to design, construct, or erect a marker under this section unless a
2626 grant or donation of funds is made to the department to cover the
2727 cost of the design, construction, and erection of the marker. Money
2828 received to cover the cost of the marker shall be deposited to the
2929 credit of the state highway fund.
3030 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
