99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Chapter 443, Government Code, is amended by
1111 adding Section 443.01526 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 443.01526. AFRICAN AMERICAN TEXANS MONUMENT. The
1313 State Preservation Board shall establish an African American Texans
1414 memorial monument on the State Capitol grounds that pays tribute to
1515 the contributions of African Americans to the State of Texas.
1616 SECTION 2. Subsection (a-1), Section 443.0152, Government
1717 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1818 (a-1) Except as provided by Sections 443.01525 and
1919 443.01526 [448.034], after September 1, 2009, no additional
2020 monuments may be placed on the historic grounds of the Capitol.
2121 SECTION 3. Chapter 448, Government Code, is repealed.
2222 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
