| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 2308, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 2308.3171 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 2308.3171. INFORMATION ON QUALITY CHILD CARE. (a) In |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | this section, "quality child-care indicator" means any appropriate |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | indicator of quality services, including whether the provider of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the services: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (1) meets the Texas Rising Star Provider criteria |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | described by commission rules; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (2) is accredited by a nationally recognized |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | accrediting organization approved by the commission; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (3) is certified under the school readiness |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | certification system established under Section 29.161, Education |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Code; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (4) meets standards developed under Section |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | 29.155(g), Education Code; or |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (5) has achieved any other measurable target that is |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | relevant to improving the quality of child care in this state and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | that has been approved by the commission. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (b) Each board shall provide information on quality |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | child-care indicators for each licensed or registered child-care |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | provider in the area. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (c) Each board shall determine the manner in which to |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | provide the information required by this section. |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | SECTION 2. Each local workforce development board shall |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | implement Section 2308.3171, Government Code, as added by this Act, |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | not later than January 1, 2012. |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
