| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 111.83, Education Code, is amended to | |
| 11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 111.83. ROLE AND SCOPE. [(a)] The university shall | |
| 13 | 13 | [be organized to] offer undergraduate [only junior, senior,] and | |
| 14 | 14 | graduate [graduate-level] programs. | |
| 15 | 15 | [(b) The university may enroll a student who has | |
| 16 | 16 | successfully completed at least 30 semester credit hours of course | |
| 17 | 17 | work at a public or private institution of higher education and who | |
| 18 | 18 | is concurrently enrolled in another public or private institution | |
| 19 | 19 | of higher education.] | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act to Section | |
| 21 | 21 | 111.83, Education Code, applies beginning with course levels that | |
| 22 | 22 | may be offered by the University of Houston-Clear Lake for the | |
| 23 | 23 | 2012-2013 academic year. | |
| 24 | 24 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 25 | 25 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 26 | 26 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 27 | 27 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 28 | 28 | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
