10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subsection (c), Section 130.008, Education Code, | |
12 | 12 | is amended to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | (c) The contact hours attributable to the enrollment of a | |
14 | 14 | high school student in a course offered for joint high school and | |
15 | 15 | junior college credit under this section, excluding a course for | |
16 | 16 | which the student attending high school may receive course credit | |
17 | 17 | toward the physical education curriculum requirement under Section | |
18 | 18 | 28.002(a)(2)(C), shall be included in the contact hours used to | |
19 | 19 | determine the junior college's proportionate share of the state | |
20 | 20 | money appropriated and distributed to public junior colleges under | |
21 | 21 | Sections 130.003 and 130.0031, even if the junior college waives | |
22 | 22 | all or part of the tuition or fees for the student under Subsection | |
23 | 23 | (b). | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with funding for the | |
25 | 25 | 2011 fall semester. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
27 | 27 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
28 | 28 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
29 | 29 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
30 | 30 | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
