| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 504.307, Transportation Code, is amended | |
| 11 | 11 | to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 504.307. UNITED STATES PARATROOPERS [AIRBORNE | |
| 13 | 13 | PARACHUTISTS]. (a) The department shall issue specialty license | |
| 14 | 14 | plates for [persons] active and former members of the United States | |
| 15 | 15 | armed services who have: | |
| 16 | 16 | (1) satisfactorily completed the prescribed | |
| 17 | 17 | proficiency tests while assigned or attached to an airborne unit or | |
| 18 | 18 | the Airborne Department of the United States Army Infantry School; | |
| 19 | 19 | or | |
| 20 | 20 | (2) participated in at least one combat parachute | |
| 21 | 21 | jump. | |
| 22 | 22 | (b) The license plates must include: | |
| 23 | 23 | (1) a likeness of the parachutist badge authorized by | |
| 24 | 24 | the Department of the Army; and | |
| 25 | 25 | (2) the words "U.S. Paratrooper." | |
| 26 | 26 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
