77 relating to the minimum standards for the certifications of sexual
88 assault training programs and sexual assault nurse examiners and
99 for certification renewal by those entities.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Subdivision (6), Section 420.003, Government
1212 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1313 (6) "Sexual assault nurse examiner" means a registered
1414 nurse who has completed a service-approved examiner training course
1515 and who is certified according to minimum standards prescribed by
1616 attorney general rule.
1717 SECTION 2. Subsections (b) and (c), Section 420.011,
1818 Government Code, are amended to read as follows:
1919 (b) The attorney general shall adopt rules establishing
2020 minimum standards for the certification of a sexual assault
2121 training program and the renewal of that certification by the
2222 program. The certification is valid for two years from the date of
2323 issuance. The attorney general shall also adopt rules establishing
2424 minimum standards for the suspension, decertification, or
2525 probation of a training program that violates this chapter.
2626 (c) The attorney general shall adopt rules establishing
2727 minimum standards for the certification of a sexual assault nurse
2828 examiner and the renewal of that certification by the nurse
2929 examiner, including standards for examiner training courses and for
3030 the interstate reciprocity of sexual assault nurse examiners. The
3131 certification is valid for two years from the date of issuance. The
3232 attorney general shall also adopt rules establishing minimum
3333 standards for the suspension, decertification, or probation of a
3434 sexual assault nurse examiner who violates this chapter.
3535 SECTION 3. Not later than December 1, 2011, the attorney
3636 general shall adopt the rules required by Subsections (b) and (c),
3737 Section 420.011, Government Code, as amended by this Act.
3838 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
