A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the review of the Sunset Advisory Commission by the
comptroller.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 325, Government Code, is amended by
adding Section 325.0121 to read as follows:
Sec. 325.0121. REVIEW OF COMMISSION BY COMPTROLLER. (a)
The comptroller shall review the commission in the same manner the
commission reviews state agencies under this chapter. In
performing the review, the comptroller shall use the same criteria
the commission uses to review state agencies under this chapter.
(b) Not later than December 31 of the year in which the
comptroller reviews the commission, the comptroller shall submit a
report to the legislature that includes:
(1) the comptroller's findings regarding the criteria
prescribed by Section 325.011;
(2) the comptroller's recommendations for the
commission; and
(3) other information the comptroller considers
necessary for a complete review of the commission.
(c) The comptroller shall conduct an initial review of the
commission before the 83rd Legislative Session. The comptroller
shall review the commission every 12th year after the year the
commission is first reviewed.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
