77 relating to the duties of the secretary of state.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 405.017, Government Code, is amended to
1010 read as follows:
1111 Sec. 405.017. MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES. The secretary of state
1212 shall:
1313 (1) affix the state seal to all official documents
1414 issued from the secretary of state's office;
1515 (2) unless provided otherwise by law, commission state
1616 officers;
1717 (3) keep [in a separate suitable book] a register of
1818 all state officers;
1919 (4) immediately on receipt, deliver to the person in
2020 charge of the state library all books, maps, charts, printed
2121 volumes of the laws of a nation, territory, or another state, or
2222 other political or miscellaneous publications received in the
2323 secretary of state's office;
2424 (5) immediately on receipt, deliver to the supreme
2525 court librarian reports of courts of a nation, territory, or
2626 another state received in the secretary of state's office; and
2727 (6) perform such other and further duties as may be
2828 directed by the governor.
2929 SECTION 2. Subsections (b) and (c), Section 405.019,
3030 Government Code, are amended to read as follows:
3131 (b) The secretary of state shall make [send] the list
3232 available to [each of] the county clerks of this state before
3333 January 1 of each year.
3434 (c) The secretary of state shall amend the list and make
3535 [immediately send] the amended list available to the county clerks
3636 of this state if the secretary learns that a state or territory has
3737 changed its requirements relating to a notary public in a manner
3838 that requires it to be added to or deleted from the list.
3939 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
