99 relating to formula funding for certain semester credit hours
1010 earned for dual course credit.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 61.059, Education Code, is amended by
1313 adding Subsections (p) and (p-1) to read as follows:
1414 (p) In its instruction and operations formula applicable to
1515 an institution of higher education, the board may not include any
1616 semester credit hours earned for dual course credit by a high school
1717 student for high school and college credit at the institution
1818 unless those credit hours are earned through any of the following:
1919 (1) a course in the core curriculum of the institution
2020 providing course credit;
2121 (2) a career and technical education course that
2222 applies to any certificate or associate's degree offered by the
2323 institution providing course credit; or
2424 (3) a foreign language course.
2525 (p-1) Subsection (p) does not apply to a course completed by
2626 a student as part of the early college education program
2727 established under Section 29.908.
2828 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2929 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3030 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3131 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3232 Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
