99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 86.014, Election Code,
1111 is amended to read as follows:
1212 (a) A copy of an application for a ballot to be voted by mail
1313 is not available for public inspection, except to the voter seeking
1414 to verify that the information pertaining to the voter is accurate,
1515 until the first business day after [may be obtained from the early
1616 voting clerk:
1717 [(1) 72 hours after the time a ballot is mailed to the
1818 voter; or
1919 [(2) 48 hours after the time a ballot is mailed to the
2020 voter if the mailing occurs on the fourth day before] election day.
2121 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2222 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2323 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2424 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2525 Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
