S.C.R. No. 40 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Wayne and Eileen Hurd for their many contributions to the Horseshoe Bay community on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Horseshoe Bay Resort and the 20th anniversary of the Seton Gala; and WHEREAS, Wayne and Eileen Hurd count among the earliest residents of Horseshoe Bay and have contributed immensely to the area's development and growth as a community; in a serendipitous turn of events, Wayne discovered a rusty horseshoe on a dry lake bottom while he and his cousin Norm were considering Horseshoe Bay as one of the possible names for the development; and WHEREAS, Eileen Hurd played an important role in the creation of the Seton Gala, a fund-raiser and membership drive first held in 1981 by the Horseshoe Bay Associates of the Seton Development Board to raise money to enhance the quality of health care in the region; and WHEREAS, Wayne and Eileen Hurd have played a vital role in the history of Horseshoe Bay, and it is truly fitting that they be recognized; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 82nd Legislature of the State of Texas hereby commend Wayne and Eileen Hurd on their many contributions to the Horseshoe Bay Resort and community and extend to all its residents best wishes for a memorable 40th anniversary and a successful 20th anniversary Seton Gala; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared in honor of this special occasion. ______________________________ ______________________________ President of the Senate Speaker of the House I hereby certify that S.C.R.
