SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 103
In Memory
of
Howard Daniel Boone
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Howard Daniel Boone,
who died January 7, 2011, at the age of 72; and
WHEREAS, Born July 19, 1938, in Houston, Dan Boone grew up
in Weatherford, Texas; he attended Southern Methodist University
and the University of Houston; he was married to Patricia Ruth
Butler Boone for 40 years, until she passed away in 1998; and
WHEREAS, Dan had a longtime, successful career in the
automobile business; he became president of Bill McDavid
Oldsmobile in 1969 at the age of 31, and he went on to own and
operate several different car dealerships in the Houston area
until 1995; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his life, he was dedicated to his work
and to his many interests and hobbies; he had a passion for world
travel, hunting, and golf; he was a pilot and a motorcycle
enthusiast who enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson; and
WHEREAS, Dan was one of the first members of the Lochinvar
Golf Club; he loved socializing with friends, and he could light
up a room with his presence and enliven any gathering; and
WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom and warmth
will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
WHEREAS, Beloved by his family and friends, Dan will be
deeply missed by all who were fortunate to share in his life; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
family of Howard Daniel Boone: his loving wife, Mary Catherine
Boone; his daughter, Lynn Boone; his sons, Daniel H. Boone and
Steven W. Boone; his step-daughter, Rachel Barry; his sister,
Angela Boone; and his grandchildren; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Howard Daniel Boone.
