                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1031
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Deborah K. Badrak, who is retiring after 29 years of
 exceptional service as an educator; and
 WHEREAS, This gifted teacher began her career in education
 while still a student at John Jay High School in San Antonio,
 enrolling in a teacher training program and working with
 special-needs students; she went on to earn a degree in education
 from Southwest Texas State University in 1981 and soon afterward
 started as a teacher at F. C. Weinert Elementary School in
 Seguin; and
 WHEREAS, She has for more than 20 years worked for the
 Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District,
 where her duties have run the gamut from teaching children with
 multiple disabilities to serving as the coordinator for gifted
 and talented students; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Badrak is cofounder of the Flying Colors
 Achievement Center, a nonprofit organization providing
 assistance and mentorship to at-risk students, and she has won
 numerous awards, including Teacher of the Year at three separate
 schools; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Badrak's students have greatly benefited
 from her skillful teaching methods, her wise counsel and
 encouragement, and her sincere concern for each individual; she
 has often supplied clothing, food, and resources for students and
 families in need so that her students could achieve their full
 potential; and
 WHEREAS, Dedicated and imaginative, she has worked to
 instill in her students an appreciation for challenge and hard
 work and a lifelong love of learning; she is truly deserving of
 recognition for her commitment and for the positive influence she
 has had on her students; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, hereby commend Deborah K. Badrak for her 29 years of
 dedication to excellence in education and extend to her best
 wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
