SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1037 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Nicole Olvera on the auspicious occasion of her graduation from the Nursing Program at The University of Texas at Brownsville; and WHEREAS, Talented and hardworking, Nicole was a member of the Medical Program at Homer Hanna High School in Brownsville, where she distinguished herself in her studies; she was offered a position as a medical assistant upon graduation and was accepted as a student at The University of Texas at Brownsville; and WHEREAS, As an underclassman, she maintained high grades, established a solid reputation among professors, and networked with many medical professionals; after her first year, she applied for entrance into the university's Nursing Program and was accepted; and WHEREAS, The Nursing Program is a rigorous two-year course of study that requires extreme dedication and discipline from its students; Nicole was inspired and motivated by the demands of the program, and she also served as a team member at Valley Baptist Medical Center at Brownsville, where she learned nursing skills on a firsthand basis; and WHEREAS, Nicole has faced the many challenges of higher education and of the Nursing Program with success and distinction, and she is well prepared for a future that holds countless opportunities for her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Nicole Olvera on her outstanding accomplishments and extend to her congratulations on her graduation from The University of Texas at Brownsville Nursing Program; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for Nicole Olvera as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
