SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1042 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Danny Fryar, who is retiring as city manager after 40 years of outstanding service to the people of Stanton; and WHEREAS, Mr. Fryar began his career in public service as a volunteer firefighter in 1971; he was elected in 1974 to the city council, where he served until his election as mayor in 1977; he held the position of mayor until 1991, when he was chosen to serve as city manager; and WHEREAS, Throughout his career, he has been noted for his outstanding organizational skills and expertise; he has been an active member of the Permian Basin Regional Planning Commission and has served as an advisor to the Stanton economic development board and as a member of the small cities advisory committee for the Texas Municipal League; and WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, he played an important role in acquiring grants for such infrastructure improvements as the new water tower, airport, police department building, and water filtration plant; he has also been involved in such projects as the upgrading of parks and roads, which have enhanced the quality of life for area residents; and WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, he is respected and admired by colleagues and citizens alike, and his presence as Stanton city manager will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Danny Fryar on his exceptional service to the people of Stanton and of Martin County and extend to him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
