SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1043 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Kim A. Cockins for his many contributions to his community and his state; and WHEREAS, Dr. Cockins has for 25 years engaged in the practice of medicine as a cardiologist; a graduate of the Ohio State University College of Medicine, he performed his residency at Akron City Hospital and completed a cardiology fellowship at the West Virginia University School of Medicine, where he was actively involved in academic research and served as a study coordinator for various medical trials; and WHEREAS, Dr. Cockins established a practice in Brownsville after realizing the city did not have a full, modern cardiac program; he worked with a local cardiovascular surgeon to create Brownsville's first open-heart surgical program, which has enjoyed great success; and WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, Dr. Cockins has performed countless procedures and has played a vital role in the lives of his patients and his community; he is truly deserving of recognition for his expertise and his many achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Kim A. Cockins for his many accomplishments and recognize him as a valued citizen of the Lone Star State; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
