SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1046
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Janiece Longoria for her exemplary service as a member
of The University of Texas System Board of Regents; and
WHEREAS, A partner in the Houston law firm of Ogden,
Gibson, Broocks, Longoria, and Hall, Janiece Longoria is an
honors graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and received
her law degree from The University of Texas School of Law; and
WHEREAS, She was appointed to the board on February 1,
2008, by Governor Rick Perry; she has done outstanding work as
chair of the Health Affairs Committee and has contributed her
insight and expertise as a member of the Audit, Compliance, and
Management Review Committee and the Facilities Planning and
Construction Committee; and
WHEREAS, She is active in numerous civic and professional
organizations, including the American Bar Association, the State
Bar of Texas, and the Greater Houston Partnership; she serves as
one of seven commissioners for the Port of Houston Authority and is
on the board of directors of CenterPoint Energy, Incorporated; and
WHEREAS, She is truly deserving of recognition for her many
contributions to her profession and her community, and it is
fitting that she be recognized for her work on The University of
Texas System Board of Regents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby commend Janiece Longoria on her exceptional
service as a member of The University of Texas System Board of
Regents and extend to her best wishes for continued success in
all her future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
