SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1127
In Memory
of
Bryan A. Burgess
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
commemorates the life of Staff Sergeant Bryan A. Burgess, who
died March 29, 2011, while serving with the United States Army in
Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Bryan Burgess was assigned to the
2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team,
101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; he was 29 years
old when he made the ultimate sacrifice for his country; and
WHEREAS, Our state and our nation are privileged to have
those individuals whose love for their country inspires them to
take up military service, yet the tragic death of this fine
soldier is a sobering reminder of the cost of war; and
WHEREAS, Bryan Burgess was a man of courage, strength, and
loyalty, whose unwavering resolve and selfless service embodied
the highest ideals of the armed services; and
WHEREAS, Bryan will be deeply missed by his family and all
who were privileged to know this exemplary patriot; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Staff Sergeant
Bryan A. Burgess and extend sincere condolences to his bereaved
family; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
memory of Bryan A. Burgess.
